Consummatum Est

At long last.. I never thought I would actually see this day..

Well, actually this post is roughly more than a week delayed, with the examinations having concluded a while back already. Oh well.. 😅

Once again, I am FREE! 😁 Best of all, mission accomplished! 😎👍 Before anything else though, I would like to thank the Big Guy Upstairs for his unfailing support. None of this would have been possible without Your help. Thank you so much.. 🙏🙏🙏

As I breathe the much needed sigh of relief, the next question that looms over my head is "What now?". This one is a little tricky, as it will involve both the reorganization and reactivation of previous clinic commitments, as well as an exploration of possible new opportunities that have opened up before me. Things have begun to get interesting, so we shall see what eventually develops.

I miss doing clinics at my usual spaces. I have spoken before of my disdain for telemedicine, so I guess I shall refrain from opening that can of worms for the meantime until I really need to hehe. The art of medical practice was never meant to be conducted behind digital screens. I hope things will really be safe enough when I do begin venturing out into the world regularly, as the last thing I need is to get sick or to bring the virus home to the people I love.

Although the examinations have been hurdled, I find myself in a sort of limbo as the oathtaking to be sworn in as a full-fledged diplomate will be taking place much later during the first quarter of the following year. As such, my practice will be limited until I get myself fully installed in the subspecialty. 😅  All good, I guess. Good things come to those who wait. 😉 Hopefully my practice will eventually return to full swing, and I shall be making more efficient use of my time so that I can finally move on to other, far more greater things in life. 😁 That's the update for this episode. This is actually a creativity primer for another project I have, but that is beyond the scope of this  post to discuss.

Ten Minutes

Yup, ten minutes. That's the amount of time I've decided to set for myself to write down this blog entry.

For the record, it just turned 5:55PM here on my computer, so I'll just work with that.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Christmas and New Year's has gone by with barely a snippet from my blog, which is unusual considering my annual retrospectives and my need to let off steam every once in a while..

Well, here I am, at home again, unemployed, but with more direction in my life as compared to the situations I found myself in the past.

The aforementioned transition went by as smoothly as possible (in my opinion), and now the juniors have finally stepped up to the plate to claim their place as the captains for 2015.. I'm so proud..

Wow, 5 minutes already? maybe I should make this 15 minutes.. anyway..

It's actually been quite busy these past few weeks. I'm presently (finally) studying for the diplomate examinations, which in hindsight should have been started a few months earlier, but what the heck..

At least I was able to accomplish stuff during the past weeks, like secure my clearances from the hospital and city hall (local government kasi eh), got my diplomas, and paid for the examination. AS expected, I will hunker down for the remaining days, hoping to cram 3 years' worth of knowledge into my little brain in the hopes of passing the exam..

Oh, not to mention all the little trips to be interspersed in between, like a few trips back to the hospital to secure recommendation letters from the consultants for my fellowship applications, and to secure the final clearance as well..

Oops! Times up!

What a rush!! (Med boards Aug '09)

Whew! It was like taking the boards all over again..

Just a short while ago, the Professional Regulation Commission (finally) released the list of the names of those who passed the recently concluded Physician Licensure Examinations. While online, I see my friends who are teetering on the edge of madness, desperate for any little bit of news while at the same time dreading the unthinkable.. and since I had a vested interest in this particular examination, I was keeping vigil myself.. :P

The adrenaline rush is just something else! I felt all the anxiety and tension in the air. I was having sleepless nights again as though I was the one upon whom the verdict would be placed. I guess it's a little harder when it's someone you care about, because you feel so helpless.. As I came home from work a while ago, I couldn't focus. I had this queasy feeling in my stomach. My fingers and toes were tingling.. My heart rate shot up when I saw the initial report on the news websites. The results were out. They were ACTUALLY going to come out TONIGHT!! Since it was just an initial report, the list of the board passers was still "to follow".

The results put UST graduates in 6 places among the top 10, including nos 1-3. Overall, there was about a 71% passing rate (1680/2357), which was noticeably higher compared to the last 2 examinations: Feb 09 - 64%; Aug 08 - 60%

So, without further ado, I would like to extend my congratulations to the newly licensed physicians!!  :D
